Vanajaveden Vesikot

Vanajaveden Vesikot ry is a paddling club based in Hämeenlinna, Finland, founded in 1942. The club promotes paddling as an accessible, year-round activity and supports members’ fitness, health and development at every skill level. Its operations are based at Vesikkolinna, a clubhouse and equipment facility in Varikonniemi on the shore of Lake Vanajavesi. A large, shallow pier makes launching straightforward, including for newcomers. Members can use around 100 kayaks with basic equipment, as well as several stand-up paddleboards.

The club offers activities for adults, young people and competitive paddlers. These include weekly evening sessions, guided outings on nearby waters and longer trips, youth training in paddling technique and water safety, and sprint kayaking practice. Beginners can join short, instructed day trips that introduce the essentials of touring. Vanajaveden Vesikot also provides paddling courses, family and children’s activities, group paddling opportunities, and training for paddling instructors, including rescue practice. The surrounding lakes and rivers offer varied routes, from sheltered waters and scenic islands to longer excursions.
