Vancouver Female Ice Hockey Association

Vancouver Female Ice Hockey Association (VFIHA) is a minor hockey organization dedicated to creating opportunities for female players in Vancouver and building an inclusive, supportive hockey community. Celebrating its 50th anniversary season in 2022–2023, the association welcomes new and returning players through registration guidance, a player pathway, and Come Try Hockey sessions, including opportunities for Indigenous girls. Its programs include team hockey, player development, and spring 4-on-4 play, with information and support for equipment, fees, financial assistance, grants, and scholarships.

VFIHA also supports the people who make hockey possible, offering resources for coaches, referees, team officials, managers, and timekeepers, including coaching credential information and referee guidance. Safety is central to its work, with resources covering Hockey Canada’s safety program, injury management, tournament expectations, and dressing-room policies. The association brings players together through community events such as its Indigenous Female Hockey Jamboree, which combines games, skill development, and cultural connection for Indigenous female players from across British Columbia.
