About VARAS
VARAS, Volunteers for Amelioration of Rural Areas, is a registered organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty in rural Ghana. With a focus on sustainable solutions, VARAS believes that when rural communities work alongside international volunteers, long-lasting change can be achieved. Driven by their missions of education, health, women empowerment, and rural enterprise, VARAS provides international and local volunteer and intern placements, as well as resources and facilities to support these sectors.
They also aim to create economic and social stability by engaging rural women and the physically challenged in various opportunities and revamping local industries to create employment. VARAS' goal is to ameliorate rural areas through the provision of quality, sustainable local and international programs and projects. They strive to develop communities by bridging the developmental gap between rural and urban areas.
