About Varsity
Varsity is an independent student newspaper for the University of Cambridge, established in 1947. It provides informative and engaging content to its readership, covering a wide range of topics including news, commentaries, features, interviews, science, lifestyle, arts, fashion, film & TV, music, and sport. One of their recent news articles highlights the courageous story of Anna Lapwood, the director of music at Pembroke College, who spoke out about her jailed stalker.
Lapwood, popularly known as the 'TikTok organist', was followed and harassed by Elliott Bennett over several months. Bennett's behavior escalated to the point where he bought a one-way ticket from America to confront Lapwood in London. He has since been sentenced to six months in prison and given an indefinite restraining order.
Lapwood emphasized the importance of reporting instances of stalking and seeking help, urging others to understand that some people do not respect boundaries. Varsity aims to provide valuable content to its readership, relying on advertising and donations to sustain its independent journalism
