About VASAB
VASAB is an intergovernmental multilateral co-operation brand that focuses on spatial planning and development in the Baltic Sea Region. It is guided by the Conference of Ministers responsible for spatial planning and development and steered by the Committee on Spatial Planning and Development of the Baltic Sea Region (CSPD/BSR). The brand is composed of representatives from respective ministries and regional authorities in Germany, particularly the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Schleswig-Holstein regions.
While the participation of Belarus and Russia is currently suspended, VASAB works tirelessly to prepare policy options for the territorial development of the Baltic Sea Region. Additionally, it serves as a forum for the exchange of know-how on spatial planning and development between the Baltic Sea countries. VASAB's goals include recommending transnational policy measures, promoting methodology development, fostering cooperation projects, collaborating with other cross-BSR initiatives, and facilitating a dialogue with sector institutions.
The brand is integrated into the network of the Council of the Baltic Sea States organizations
