About Virginia Spaceport Authority
The Virginia Spaceport Authority (VSA) is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia, dedicated to supporting the growing demand for multi-purpose launch facilities. Positioned at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport (MARS), the VSA owns and operates this premier launch facility. With three launch pads, an Unmanned Aircraft Systems Airfield, a Payload Processing Facility, and an Integration and Control Facility, MARS offers capabilities to support diverse missions and customers, including national security missions and civil and commercial activities.
Established in 1995, the VSA's purpose is to develop and enhance infrastructure for efficient and low-cost access to space, provide education and research in aerospace, and stimulate aerospace-related economic activity in the region. As a tenant organization of NASA's Wallops Flight Facility, the Virginia Spaceport Authority has access to world-class resources. The VSA also provides economic and operational benefits to its customers and stakeholders through legislation and trade zones.
