In Zeiten neuer globaler Herausforderungen ist die Zusammenarbeit aller biowissenschaftlichen Disziplinen von großer Bedeutung. Nur gemeinsam können Zukunftsprobleme erkannt, verstanden und Lösungsvorschläge erarbeitet werden. „Gemeinsam sind wir stärker“ – dieses Motto begründet den Zusammenschluss von Fachgesellschaften und Landesverbänden unter dem Dach des VBIO. Gemeinsam repräsentieren die Fachgesellschaften im VBIO das vielfältige Spektrum der Biowissenschaften. Sie fördern den wissenschaftlichen Fortschritt und den wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchs in ihren Fachgebieten. Einzelmitglieder des VBIO sind in Landesverbänden organisiert. Sie bearbeiten biologisch relevante Fragestellungen auf Landesebene, insbesondere in den Bereichen Bildung und Beruf.

About VBIO
The Verband Biologie, Biowissenschaften und Biomedizin in Deutschland e. V. (VBIO), also known as the German Life Sciences Association, brings together biological societies, regional associations, institutions, and individual members across Germany.
Its network represents a broad range of life science disciplines, from plant sciences, zoology, and microbiology to genetics, ecology, and biomedical research. VBIO promotes scientific progress and supports early-career researchers, while its regional associations address biology-related issues at state level, particularly in education and professional life. The organisation connects science with society through public information, science communication, citizen science, and discussion of topics such as biodiversity, climate change, animal welfare, and genome editing.
It also provides resources for schools, teachers, students, and professionals, including teaching materials, events, training, publications, career guidance, job resources, and information on education and employment pathways. Members can participate in specialist and regional communities, contribute to policy discussions, and access a range of membership options. Through this work, VBIO fosters collaboration across the life sciences and helps communicate their relevance to research, education, and society
