VCFS, also known as Raise Hope, is a Queensland-based organisation dedicated to supporting people affected by Velocardiofacial Syndrome, also called 22q11.2 deletion syndrome. The organisation provides information and awareness for individuals, families, carers and communities, helping them better understand a condition that can involve a wide range of health, learning, feeding and speech challenges. Its resources explain common associated issues, possible treatments and the importance of seeking guidance from healthcare professionals.
VCFS works to educate the public, encourage earlier recognition of the syndrome and share verified information informed by healthcare contributors, people with VCFS and research. The organisation also takes part in research in Queensland and elsewhere in Australia, consulting international experts and using research findings to support education. Through its online platform, it connects people with information and community support across Queensland, including Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and rural areas. Its services include educational content, awareness initiatives, research updates and new-diagnosis seminars.
