About VCOSS
VCOSS, the Victorian Council of Social Service, is dedicated to the total elimination of poverty and disadvantage in Victoria. With approximately 800,000 Victorians, including over 215,000 children, living in poverty, VCOSS advocates for systemic change and supports those affected by inequality. As the peak body for Victoria’s social and community sector, it unites frontline services, grassroots organizations, and advocacy groups towards a common goal: eradicating poverty.
Offering a platform for political intelligence, advocacy reach, and networking opportunities, VCOSS empowers its members to create a more just society. Their initiatives emphasize community engagement, policy development, and amplifying the voices of those with direct experiences of poverty. In addition, VCOSS works to address essential needs, ensuring that choices like heating or eating do not exist for Victorians.
CEO Juanita Pope leads the organization with extensive experience in not-for-profit governance and advocacy, further reinforcing VCOSS's commitment to social equity and community welfare
