Verband der Diätassistenten

The VDD, or Association of Dietitians – German Federal Association, is the professional body representing dietitians in Germany. It supports the profession and promotes the role of qualified dietitians in nutrition therapy, nutrition counselling, prevention and healthcare. The association helps consumers, patients and healthcare professionals find dietitians and access information about when and how nutrition services may be used, prescribed or partly covered by health insurers.

For its members and the wider professional community, the VDD provides continuing education, certificate courses, seminars, career resources and a job board. Its website offers practical materials and tools, including guidance on the German Nutrition Care Process, as well as news and publications such as the journal Diät + Information. The association also hosts a national congress and other professional events, and supports networking through specialist groups covering areas such as diabetes, paediatrics, oncology and renal care. Through partnerships, public information and professional advocacy, the VDD works to strengthen dietetics and advance the quality and recognition of nutrition therapy and counselling.
