Vearl is a blockchain protocol developing Proof of Useful Work, a model that directs mining power toward useful computing rather than disposable hash calculations. GPU miners run AI workloads for clients, while the same computations help secure the network. Vearl’s design requires results to be verified before payment: clients can check outputs, and miners who submit incorrect work risk losing their bond.
The protocol’s closed testnet demonstrates workloads including text generation, image recognition, semantic search, sentence embeddings, image classification, and matrix multiplication. It also supports importing custom PyTorch or ONNX models, with operations that can be chained into larger jobs. Computation uses 8-bit integer models so participating nodes can reproduce results bit for bit. Verification methods include checks for matrix products and exact recomputation for other operations.
Vearl is also exploring GPU-based 3D rendering and simulation. Its website reports measured testnet results on an NVIDIA A10 GPU and describes a public testnet planned for 23 October 2026.
