Vejlefisker

Vejle Amatørfiskerforening is a Danish recreational fishing association welcoming both beginners and experienced fishers. It introduces members to fishing in Vejle Fjord, Horsens Fjord, Lillebælt and near Juelsminde, using nets, fyke nets, pots and fishing rods. The association shares information about fishing trips, catch records, local regulations, protected areas and the marine environment, and provides opportunities for members to take part in outings and club activities.

Conservation and healthier waters are central to the association’s work. In cooperation with Danmarks Fritidsfiskerforbund, it released 6,000 eels into Vejle Fjord in 2025. Its projects also include supporting the recovery of flounder populations in Vejle and Horsens fjords and near Juelsminde. As part of the Sund Vejle Fjord initiative, five stone reefs have been established, while mussels have been cultivated and returned to the fjord. The association also raises awareness of oxygen depletion and the need to reduce nitrogen pollution. Through fishing, shared knowledge and practical projects, it brings local fishers together around the fjord and its future.
