Vejle Fjordhave

Vejle Fjordhave is a Danish association dedicated to cultivating seaweed and mussels in Vejle Fjord while promoting a healthier marine environment. Its work combines practical fjord gardening with public education, community activities and efforts to improve conditions for biodiversity. The association shares information about local marine life, the ecology and climate benefits of seaweed and mussels, and the environmental pressures affecting the fjord. It has documented at least 30 species observed in the area and aims to show how the fjord’s habitats can be supported and regenerative cultivation of healthy food developed.

Vejle Fjordhave also works to create better habitats, including plans for a stone reef built using stones collected through its Vejle Fjord Stone Bank initiative. Exhibitions, information boards, open-house events, talks and activities for children and adults help connect the public with life beneath the water. The association organizes communal meals and educational activities, including visits involving cooking, and collaborates with neighboring projects, researchers and other organizations.
