About VELCO
Vermont Electric Power Company, Inc. (VELCO) is the nation's first statewide transmission only company, established in 1956 by Vermont's local utilities. Their mission is to create and maintain an interconnected electric transmission grid that provides access to clean hydro power.
With a strong focus on reliability, VELCO manages a comprehensive system that includes 738 miles of transmission lines, 55 substations, and switching stations, as well as fiber optic communication networks. Additionally, VELCO operates Vermont Transco LLC, which owns and maintains the state's high-voltage electric transmission system, serving 17 electric distribution utilities and loads throughout New England.
