Velfærdshesten

Velfærdshesten is an equine massage and therapy service based near Rødekro in Southern Jutland, Denmark. Founded by Sara van Overeem, a trained horse masseuse and craniosacral therapy practitioner, the business is guided by a commitment to supporting horses’ wellbeing across breeds, disciplines and levels of work. Services include massage, mobilization, balancing, craniosacral therapy, BEMER treatment and laser treatment.

A visit typically begins with an assessment of the horse’s movement, including an in-hand walk and small circles, followed by a hands-on examination of its muscles and skeleton. Sara discusses the owner’s observations and keeps a journal to monitor progress between appointments. The first session usually takes about 90 minutes, while later visits last around 60 to 90 minutes. Velfærdshesten offers both initial support for specific concerns and periodic check-ups to help maintain a horse’s comfort and movement. Sara travels to clients, mainly in the afternoons and evenings, on weekends, public holidays and during school breaks. Horses should arrive clean, cool and dry, without showshine or insect-product residue.
