Velocity USA is a renowned brand that specializes in hand-made bicycle rims, wheels, and accessories. Based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Velocity USA is committed to providing the best-in-class designs, available in various sizes, colors, configurations, and applications. With a focus on performance, they manufacture their products using performance aluminum rim extrusions sourced from Profile Precision Extrusions in Arizona.
Founded in 1989 by Tom Black in Australia, Velocity USA began with the creation of the innovative 'Velocage', an adjustable aluminum water bottle cage. As the company grew, they expanded their product offerings and introduced their first aluminum rim, the Aero, in 1991. Differentiating themselves from others, Velocity USA became known for their extensive range of rim drillings, sizes, and colors to cater to custom wheel builders.
In 1998, Velocity USA started selling fully built wheels, and in 2011, they established The Wheel Department in Michigan to meet the demand for hand-built wheels. In 2012, they relocated their Australian facility to the United States, proudly manufacturing all their rims in Jacksonville, Florida. Unfortunately, in 2016, they lost John Black, co-founder of Velocity USA, to brain cancer.
Despite the challenges, Velocity USA continues to thrive and is now a small business owned by Tom Black and Linda Black, John's wife. They are dedicated to providing exceptional products and aim to be 'The best name to ride with'. With a mission to enable cyclists to enjoy their bicycles to the fullest, Velocity USA offers durable and performance-oriented wheels, rims, and accessories that can be personalized to each individual's preferences.
