Natuur en Milieu Gelderland

Veluwetuinen is a nature-focused initiative that encourages residents around the Veluwe to make their gardens part of a wider landscape for wildlife. Its goal is to strengthen biodiversity by creating green stepping stones where native plants, butterflies, bees, birds, and other animals can find food and shelter. The initiative is run by Natuur en Milieu Gelderland and Vereniging Landschap en Milieu Hattem.

Visitors can find practical guidance for creating a Veluwetuin, including tips, checklists, examples, and lists of suitable native plants. The website also points people toward growers specializing in native and organically cultivated plants. Gardeners can start small, with a few native species or a flower patch, and are encouraged to reduce paving and avoid pesticides and artificial fertilizers. Residents can register qualifying gardens to have them added to a map, helping show the growing network of wildlife-friendly spaces. Veluwetuinen also shares news, events, and ideas such as planting a native tree or shrub for someone. Its resources are designed to make nature-friendly gardening approachable, even for beginners.
