Vendée Vélo is the cycling initiative of the Vendée Departmental Council, promoting the region as a destination to explore by bike. Its network of cycling routes crosses a varied landscape, from the coast and the Marais Poitevin to the bocage, forests and inland countryside. Routes are intended for a range of visitors, including sporty cyclists, casual riders, families and solo travellers, with options to suit different interests and abilities.

The Vendée Vélo website helps visitors discover routes and prepare their rides. Its practical guidance covers route signage, different types of cycling paths, safe and considerate behaviour, and planning a cycling trip. Travellers can also find information about arriving by train, national cycling routes, and the “Accueil Vélo” welcome mark. The Vendée Vélo Guide presents 79 cycling routes, including 29 circuits across the department. Supported by the council’s long-term investment in cycling infrastructure, the initiative aims to make cycling a comfortable and accessible way to discover Vendée at one’s own pace.
