About Département Vendée
Vendée Vélo is the cycling initiative of the Département de la Vendée, promoting the region as a destination to explore by bike. Supported by a long-standing policy to develop cycling infrastructure, it offers routes designed for comfort and safety and caters to a range of riders, from sporty cyclists to casual visitors, families and solo travellers. The network crosses Vendée’s varied landscapes, including the coast, the Marais Poitevin, marshland, forests and bocage countryside.
The Vendée Vélo guide features 79 cycling routes and 29 loops across the department, helping visitors choose a ride to suit their interests and experience. The website also offers practical guidance for planning a ride, with information about signage, types of paths and safe cycling conduct. Visitors can learn about the Accueil Vélo label, travelling to Vendée by train and major national cycling routes.
The site also highlights major cycling competitions held in Vendée and notable local figures associated with the Tour de France, reflecting the department’s strong connection with cycling
