Venetienclub

The Venetienclub der Landeshauptstadt Düsseldorf e. V. is an association formed by former Venetias, the women who share the ceremonial leadership of Düsseldorf’s Carnival alongside the prince during each season. Founded in 1987, the club brings these former representatives together so they can remain involved in Carnival after their own seasons have ended. Since 2003, it has been registered as an association.

The club’s purpose is to continue living, celebrating and supporting Düsseldorf’s Carnival and its traditions. Its membership is necessarily small: in the usual course of events, only one new former Venetia can join each year. The organization provides information about its history, activities, events and news, and introduces its board, supporters and honors. Its website also features a fundraising initiative, press information, contact details and an anniversary medal. Through its activities and continued connection among former Venetias, the Venetienclub helps sustain the Carnival community and the customs associated with this distinctive role in Düsseldorf’s annual celebrations.
