About Venture Gear
Venture Gear is a one-person canvas workshop run by Roy Pemberton from a converted feed barn in the foothills. Drawing on twelve seasons of backcountry trail work, Roy makes small-batch hauling gear by hand, using durable materials and traditional construction rather than mass production. The workshop’s products feature 14-ounce waxed cotton duck, bridle leather, solid brass hardware, copper rivets, and reinforced seams. Each finished item is stamped with Roy’s initials and batch number and is covered by a lifetime repair promise.
The range includes the Model 03 Ruck, a 45-liter roll-top pack with bellows pockets; a long waxed-canvas bedroll designed to wrap bedding; and a Field Repair Roll stocked with sewing and patching tools for trail repairs. Venture Gear also makes VG Possibles Pouches from canvas offcuts, so each one is distinct and availability varies. Products are built in batches, with designs kept consistent and refined over time. The brand’s approach emphasizes practical, repairable gear made slowly for demanding outdoor use.
