Verein Talbrücke e. V. is a nonprofit association in Chemnitz dedicated to supporting people affected by leukemia, lymphoma and other cancers. Since 2008, it has worked closely with the Department of Internal Medicine III at Klinikum Chemnitz, which specializes in hematology, oncology and stem cell transplantation. The association aims to provide patients and their families with support during a difficult period and to build connections between those affected, healthcare professionals and the wider community.
Its activities include organizing patient events featuring information on cancer treatments, transplantation and follow-up care, as well as encouraging practical and financial support for patients. Talbrücke also provides a home for Lichtblick, a self-help group for people with hematological and oncological conditions and their relatives. The group meets monthly for shared experiences and informative talks, with support from the clinic’s psychological service, and welcomes new members. The association has also supported improvements to visitor and ward areas at the clinic. People can contribute through membership, volunteering or donations, helping Talbrücke continue its patient-focused work.
