Verloskundigenpraktijk MARU is a small midwifery practice based in the village centre of Lexmond, serving expectant parents in Vianen, Hoef en Haag, Hagestein, Hei- en Boeicop, Zijderveld, Ameide, Tienhoven aan de Lek, Meerkerk and surrounding areas. Care is provided by a familiar, permanent team of two midwives, with a personal approach and time to discuss each client’s questions, concerns and circumstances. Consultations last at least 30 minutes, allowing the team to offer tailored support alongside medical checks and help clients feel heard and supported, including when plans change.
MARU’s care covers pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period, as well as preconception counselling, miscarriage support, ultrasound services and contraception. The practice performs many basic ultrasounds on site and offers a heartbeat clinic for reassurance between appointments. Clients can also use the practice library, which includes books on pregnancy, childbirth and parenting. Additional services include parent-and-child café activities and rental of birth pools, TENS machines and breast pumps. MARU’s name means “circle” in Japanese, reflecting themes of connection, balance and life.
