SVP

The Society of Vertebrate Paleontology (SVP) is an international organization bringing together scientists, students, artists, fossil preparators, advocates, writers, and scholars who work in or support vertebrate paleontology. Its activities span research, education, professional development, public engagement, and advocacy. SVP provides membership benefits and supports the field through awards and grants, while its committees and governance structure guide the society’s work.

The organization convenes an annual meeting featuring scientific presentations, workshops, field trips, public events, and opportunities to connect with colleagues. It also offers resources for fossil preparators, educators, students, and people seeking information about paleontology laws and agencies. For researchers and readers, SVP publishes the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology and the SVP Memoir Series, with manuscript preparation guidance and an ethics review process. Members can share news, discoveries, research, job opportunities, and outreach activities with the wider community. Through these programs and publications, SVP advances the study of vertebrate fossils and encourages collaboration and public interest in paleontology.
