Vesterålen Vertikal

Vesterålen Vertikal is a climbing club based in Sortland and Stokmarknes, welcoming both experienced climbers and people interested in taking up the sport. Working with Trollfjordveggen in Stokmarknes, the club provides year-round activities, including weekly indoor climbing sessions, training, courses, and outdoor climbing opportunities. Members can climb indoors at Trollfjordveggen; those visiting outside club sessions need to arrange a separate subscription or drop-in access through the hall.

The club also supports outdoor climbing across the region. It maintains a bolted climbing area on Hadseløya, provides route information for Reka in Sortland, and shares details about a smaller climbing area near the DNT Guvåghytta in Bø. While local mountains can have loose rock that makes traditional protection unsuitable, these established areas offer options at different levels.

Vesterålen Vertikal organizes climbing courses, including Brattkort and top-rope certification, with additional courses offered according to interest and need. The club is also compiling information on local bouldering and lends crash pads to members free of charge
