VGK

The Vlaamse Geneeskundige Kring (VGK) is a student association for and run by medical students at Ghent University. Founded on 10 November 1921, it has grown into one of Ghent’s largest and most respected student circles. VGK supports medical students throughout their university years with a varied programme of social, sporting and cultural activities. These include parties, sports events, club evenings, cantuses and an initiation tradition, as well as events marking the association’s anniversary.

VGK also provides practical study support. Students can purchase courses and medical materials through its webshop, which additionally offers membership and event tickets. Members receive discounts on courses, materials and tickets, along with benefits at participating businesses. The association organises an annual Studium Generale and Medical Congress, and provides resources such as course lists, book lists, materials lists and frequently asked questions. Its elected committee leads the organisation, while its website and social channels share information about activities, services and student life.
