Vhélio is a nonprofit, open collective associated with Vélo Solaire Pour Tous, working to make practical, durable and accessible mobility options. Its guiding values are summed up as “solid, solar and supportive”: people are encouraged to take an active role in their means of transport, while users meet and help one another. Designs and ideas are conceived and shared freely, and Vhélio objects are intended to last, be repaired and adapted over time.
The central product is a solar utility bicycle designed to carry up to 200 kilograms of useful load. It is described as stable, comfortable and repairable, with a long-life design. Customers can choose a pre-assembled kit delivered to their home, ready to ride, or build their own through Vhéliotech. The DIY option lets users purchase components individually, assemble the vehicle and personalize it, with a guide that supports assembly in about a week. Vhélio also shares project information, news and resources through its website. Accessories are noted as forthcoming.
