About Viablecities
Viable Cities is a strategic innovation program dedicated to creating smart and sustainable cities. With the mission of achieving climate-neutral cities by 2030, Viable Cities collaborates with municipalities, businesses, academia, and civil society to promote ecological, economic, and social sustainability. They aim to develop cities that work well for their residents, benefit the local economy, and contribute to the well-being of the planet.
Leading the ambitious effort are 23 Swedish municipalities, representing 40% of the country's population, along with six government agencies. The central tool for their endeavor is the Climate Contract 2030. Viable Cities is one of 17 strategic innovation programs supported by Vinnova, the Swedish Energy Agency, and Formas.
