Via Ferrata Aotearoa Inc.

Via Ferrata Aotearoa Inc. is a New Zealand registered charitable society that created and maintains the Via Ferrata Takaka Hill, described as the country’s first free, non-commercial, publicly accessible fixed-rope climbing route. Set among the rugged limestone cliffs of Takaka Hill, the climbing park offers an outdoor experience that makes steep terrain accessible to people with a decent level of fitness, while providing fixed steel cables and iron steps for climbers to connect to for safety.

The society shares information about via ferrata climbing, route options, location, equipment, and frequently asked questions to help visitors plan their visit. Its website also features a newly opened route called Cliff Conqueror, a gallery, and a documentary about the community effort behind the project. Climbers can find information about hiring the safety equipment required for the route and make a gear reservation; hire-related enquiries can be directed to the listed phone number.

Supported by sponsors, donors, and community contributors, Via Ferrata Aotearoa aims to provide this distinctive outdoor facility for public enjoyment
