VIMAR (Vida Marina) is a nonprofit volunteer group established in 2012 to deepen understanding of Mediterranean marine life and habitats. Through research, fieldwork and public outreach, it helps document and monitor marine species while sharing information about the ecosystems they inhabit. Its activities include biodiversity surveys, species inventories, training in field techniques, courses and other marine-focused events.

VIMAR also works through collaborative projects, including OPK, a reference resource on Mediterranean and Iberian opisthobranchs, as well as projects focused on marine biodiversity and monitoring. The organization’s website offers free articles and information on marine biology, ecology, oceanography, diving, photography and conservation. Its content ranges from species guides and underwater observations to discussion of environmental pressures and marine protection, including coverage of Mediterranean and Antarctic ecosystems.

VIMAR welcomes people interested in contributing to its work and invites prospective volunteers and collaborators to get in touch. By combining practical monitoring with accessible educational resources, the group aims to improve knowledge of the sea and encourage a more informed relationship with marine environments
