Vief Actief is a movement and dance initiative in Badhoevedorp that encourages adults aged 60 and over to stay active and support their physical and mental wellbeing. Founded by Irene, whose dance experience began with classical ballet and expanded to styles including jazz, street dance, modern, hip-hop, tap and musical theatre, the initiative brings her passion for movement to older adults. Irene earned her dance-teacher diploma through the KNGU at age 19 and has taught dance for many years.
Its main offering is Fit & Vitaal op muziek, group exercise classes set to music from the 1940s through the 1980s. Sessions work the whole body, helping participants move more freely and build strength in a friendly, social setting. A new course is planned for January 2027, subject to sufficient enrolment. Prospective participants can first attend a trial class for €4.50; listed trial dates are January 4, 6, 11 and 13. Vief Actief also provides information about dance classes at Dansschool Tari for ages 2.5 to 30 and over.
