"About Us: The Danish Institute for Non-Formal Education (Vifo) is a leading organization dedicated to collecting, analyzing, and sharing knowledge in the fields of non-formal education and democratic voluntary activity. Our primary focus is on non-formal adult education and non-formal youth and children leisure activities, such as the scout movement and political and religious youth organizations. As part of the Danish Institute for Sports Studies, we aim to establish a general overview and insight into the field of non-formal education through data gathering, analysis, and research.

Our mission is to analyze the implications and perspectives of policy initiatives within the field of non-formal education, initiate public debate on key issues, and organize the international Play the Game conference. With a vision to be a leading knowledge partner, we strive to provide stakeholders in non-formal education and sports with new knowledge and stimulate constructive political discussions. Our work is guided by values such as expertise, relevance, impact, independence, interdisciplinarity, and professionalism.

Funded through a basic annual grant, our daily management lies with director Troels Rasmussen, and our dedicated team ensures the transparent, effective, and high-quality work processes at Vifo."
