Vikingeskibsmuseet i Roskilde is Denmark's museum for ships, maritime history, and boatbuilding culture in ancient times and the Middle Ages. The museum consists of two main attractions. The Viking Ship Hall, opened in 1969, showcases five Viking ships from Skuldelev, along with rotating exhibitions and films about the excavation of the ships.

In 1997, the museum expanded with the addition of the Museum Island. Here, visitors can explore the museum's boatyard, where reconstructions of Viking ships and traditional Nordic wooden boats are built. Most of the year, the extensive collection of boats is displayed in the Museum Harbor, while during winter, they are placed on land.

The Museum Island also houses Café Knarr, educational workshops, conference and meeting rooms, and the School Service. Vikingeskibsmuseet also conducts marine archaeological investigations prior to marine construction projects or when natural forces uncover traces of the past on the seabed. The museum actively seeks to make maritime history accessible and fascinating to contemporary audiences through exhibitions, research, and experimental archaeology.
