About VILLEPIN
Villepin Gallery, located in the heart of Hong Kong's vibrant art district, is a brand-new gallery model created by collectors, for collectors. Founded in 2019 by Dominique and Arthur de Villepin, Villepin is dedicated to showcasing selected important artists, estates, and foundations through carefully curated exhibitions. The gallery aims to bridge these artists with leading collectors and institutions in the Asia-Pacific region and worldwide.
Villepin goes beyond its gallery walls by acting as a curator for exhibitions held in museums and institutions. Each exhibition is meticulously researched, offering visitors a unique and immersive experience into the life and art of each artist. Previous exhibitions have also produced special bilingual publications featuring original essays and curatorial research.
The artists presented by Villepin span a diverse range, including renowned names like Zao Wou-Ki, Myonghi Kang, Pierre Soulages, Georges Mathieu, and Hans Hartung. As curator and advisor to a close-knit community of collectors, Villepin is committed to education and promoting scholarship of its artists through intimate salons and collaborations with leading institutions, foundations, universities, and museums. The gallery's founders, Dominique and Arthur de Villepin, draw upon their extensive experience and close friendships with artists to share their expertise, encourage dialogue, and support collectors in fostering long-lasting relationships with the artists.
Dominique de Villepin, co-founder of Villepin, is a distinguished writer, public speaker, and former diplomat and politician, serving as France's Prime Minister from 2005 to 2007. He has a deep appreciation for art's ability to build bridges between cultures and has built a remarkable collection of world-renowned artists over the past four decades. Arthur de Villepin, also a co-founder and chairman of Villepin, is an entrepreneur and avid art collector.
Growing up surrounded by artists, he developed a passion for collecting through close friendships with artists such as Zao Wou-Ki and Anselm Kiefer. Arthur's expertise in the Asian art market and his strong relationships with artists from the region contribute to Villepin's unique position in the art world. The gallery itself is located in a charming three-story building on Hollywood Road, designed to evoke the spirit of a quintessential French Maison, emphasizing the Art de Vivre and flair of French culture.
Villepin invites visitors to experience art through their eyes and fosters meaningful connections between collectors, institutions, and artists. To bring the art and the world of the artists to life, Villepin collaborates with renowned designers like Pierre Paulin, whose iconic pieces furnished the French presidential residence in the '50s. This collaboration adds an extra touch of authenticity and transports visitors back to the vibrant artistic scene of 1950s Paris.
Villepin Gallery offers public guided tours and private bookings for those who want to explore the exhibitions and learn more about the artists. With limited capacity, it is recommended to RSVP for the guided tours or inquire about private tours and group visits. At Villepin, collectors and art enthusiasts alike can expect a truly immersive and enlightening experience, where the rich history, passion, and creativity of each artist take center stage
