Vine Metrix

Vine Metrix develops affordable AI and multispectral drone solutions to help kiwifruit growers improve orchard productivity, fruit quality, and sustainability. Its tools are designed to address the limitations of labour-intensive orchard management by offering more accurate, vine-level information while helping reduce operational costs and resource use.

The company’s fruit-counting app uses AI and computer vision to count fruit, flowers, shoots, and winter buds on a smartphone, supporting crop-load decisions and reducing manual counting. Drone surveys combine multispectral cameras with data visualisation software to assess plant-health indicators and canopy coverage, including changes across the growing season. Vine Metrix is also developing virtual orchard viewing using 360-degree imagery, allowing users to inspect orchard conditions remotely.

Further planned services include AI-assisted disease detection and cane mapping. These are intended to help growers identify health concerns, understand vine productivity, and make more informed pruning decisions. Fruit counting and drone surveys are listed as available for the 2025 season; virtual viewing is in proof of concept, with disease detection and cane mapping scheduled for the 2026 season.
