The Virtual Worlds Association (VWA) is a member-driven, non-profit organization that brings together industry and academia to foster the development and adoption of virtual worlds in Europe. It aims to build an innovation ecosystem that benefits the European economy and society, connecting researchers, businesses, startups, stakeholders, creators, and public decision-makers.
Working with the European Commission through the Horizon Europe co-programmed Virtual Worlds Partnership, VWA represents partners beyond the European Union and supports dialogue between public and private actors. Its work includes developing Strategic Research and Innovation Agendas for Virtual Worlds and Web 4.0, supporting research and innovation, and advocating for the sector’s interests with European institutions. The association also works to address barriers to investment and uptake, facilitate knowledge exchange, and raise the visibility of European technologies, applications, content, talent, and initiatives.
VWA offers opportunities to participate through membership, working groups, community activities, and events, including the VWP Annual Forum. Its broader purpose is to help Europe’s virtual worlds ecosystem turn shared knowledge and creativity into global leadership.
