Welcome to Visdeurbel! We have found a solution to help the fish waiting at Weerdsluis, where the lock doors don't open frequently in spring. Introducing the Visdeurbel, a unique initiative where you can assist in opening the lock doors for the fish. How does it work? If you spot a fish, simply press the bell underwater.
Fish swim from the Vecht, through the Oudegracht and the canals, to the Kromme Rijn every spring to lay eggs and reproduce. Sometimes, they have to wait for a long time at Weerdsluis. To tackle this issue, we have installed an underwater camera at the lock.
When a fish is detected on camera, the bell is alerted and the lock will be opened if many fish are present. Join us in preserving our aquatic ecosystem!
