About Vísindagarðar Háskóla Íslands
Vísindagarðar HÍ // UI Science Park is a renowned brand established in 2004 by the University of Iceland, in collaboration with the City of Reykjavík. As a partnership aimed at benefiting the public, the Science Park's primary objective is to enhance research and development in the field of science and innovation. It achieves this by providing excellent facilities on the University's campus, creating an environment where synergy between the business sector and research institutions can thrive.
Unlike traditional business parks, the UI Science Park fosters a unique community that brings together the academic world, knowledge-based companies, and research institutions. By operating within this cluster, these entities support one another and collectively generate more significant impact than they could individually. The Science Park not only provides a conducive atmosphere for innovation and entrepreneurial activities but also facilitates collaboration between academia and the business sector.
With partners such as deCODE genetics, Alvotech, Alvogen, Gróska, CCP, and the University of Iceland Biomedical Centre, the Science Park serves as a central hub for research and innovation in Iceland. Led by a dedicated Board of Directors, the UI Science Park's mission is to establish an ideal research and innovation environment in the country. By developing robust infrastructure and fostering a network of contacts, the Park aims to promote knowledge sharing and experience exchange.
The Science Park's impact extends beyond the University of Iceland campus, as it serves the entire country. The UI Science Park is the embodiment of collaborative efforts towards creating an optimal research and innovation setting in Iceland
