Visit Shawnee

Visit Shawnee is the official Department of Tourism for the City of Shawnee, Oklahoma. We are dedicated to welcoming both new and familiar visitors to our town throughout the year. Our recently opened Welcome Center facility, situated just north of OBU, serves as a hub of information for all things Shawnee.

In fact, our commitment to promoting tourism in Shawnee was recognized in 2022 when we were awarded Tourism Organization of the Year by the Oklahoma Travel Industry Association. At Visit Shawnee, we work closely with regional and state partners, as well as local businesses, to boost the visitor economy in our city. We showcase the best that Shawnee has to offer, from museums, restaurants, and shops to scenic lakes and other exciting destinations.

Moreover, we collaborate with event organizers and film producers, helping them make Shawnee their chosen location. It is important to note that our department's funding comes solely from the City of Shawnee's lodging tax. While we are a part of the municipal government, our services mirror those of a convention and visitor's bureau and chamber of commerce.

The difference is that our resources and assistance are completely free of charge for destination proprietors and event organizers. We are here to support the success of businesses in Shawnee, particularly those in the accommodation, dining, retail, and entertainment sectors. For businesses outside these categories, our partners at Shawnee Forward are more than willing to help.
