About Visit Turneffe
Visit Turneffe takes you on a journey to the Turneffe Atoll Marine Reserve, a protected marine area of regional and global importance. This reserve is a true success story, established in 2012 as Belize's largest offshore atoll marine reserve. Covering approximately 1,317km2, it encompasses a diverse range of ocean habitats, including coral reefs, mangrove swamps, and seagrass meadows.
The Turneffe Atoll is part of the Mesoamerican Reef, a 1,000km-long reef system that supports coastal habitats, water quality, and employment opportunities in fishing and ecotourism. Here, you can explore world-class diving sites, including coral reefs and fascinating wreck sites like The Wit. Above the water, enjoy shallow water flyfishing in the mangroves or embark on guided walks to discover the Calabash Caye Nature Trail.
Not only does the TAMR offer incredible experiences, but it also supports sustainable fishing and tourism, generating fees that help maintain the reserve and provide jobs for local communities. By visiting Turneffe Atoll, you become a part of its conservation efforts and contribute to the protection of threatened species like turtles, corals, manatees, and dolphins. Embark on an unforgettable ocean adventure and make a positive impact on the future of Turneffe Atoll
