Vivek Sonar is a distinguished flautist from India, recognized as a senior disciple of the esteemed Padma Vibhushan Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia. Hailing from Chalisgaon, Maharashtra, Vivek was inspired by his late father, an eminent vocalist, to embark on his musical journey. After receiving foundational training from Pt. Purushottam Antapurkar, he refined his skills under the tutelage of Panditji, gaining acclaim for his powerful blowing technique and mastery in Tantakari and Layakari.
Beyond performances across 14 countries, Vivek founded Gurukul Prathisthan, a charitable trust designed to nurture young talent through the traditional Gurukul system. In 2017, he launched myGurukul, the world's first flute learning app, now serving over 350,000 users globally. Vivek is also the founder of 'Bansuri Utsav,' India's exclusive flute festival, and 'Flute Symphony,' which features 80 flautists in unison. His contributions to music have earned him several prestigious awards, making him a pivotal figure in promoting Indian classical music on a global scale.
