The VKA (Vereinigung der kommunalen Arbeitgeberverbände) is a reputable and influential organization that represents the interests of approximately 10,000 municipal employers at the federal level in Germany. As a key party to the Collective Agreement for the Public Sector (TVöD), the VKA regulates the working conditions for around 2.5 million municipal employees and negotiates collective agreements with the relevant public service unions.

The main objective of the VKA is to ensure that both the employees benefit from the economic development and the municipalities and their affiliated entities maintain their economic viability. The organization is composed of 16 member associations, including municipal employers in cities, municipalities, and counties, as well as hospitals, nursing homes, savings banks, utilities, waste management, and public transportation companies.

Led by President Karin Welge and accompanied by First Deputy President Dr. Wolf-Rüdiger Michel and Second Deputy President Roger Lewandowski, the VKA places great emphasis on fair negotiations, balanced working conditions, and fostering a strong public service sector. Niklas Benrath serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the VKA.
