VK Šala

VK Šaľa, or Veslársky klub Šaľa, is a rowing club based in Šaľa, Slovakia. Founded in 2021, the club aims to bring local children back to the water, encourage an active sporting spirit and help young athletes develop their potential in rowing and other water sports. Its activities include junior training, training sessions for club members, individual training and participation in competitions. Children interested in joining can contact the club through its Facebook page or by telephone; applicants must be able to swim.

The club began its first season with a training session on 11 August 2021. After several months of practice, its young rowers achieved third place in the younger pupils’ double sculls, with Anton Zach and Jakub Slamenka, and fourth place in a combined crew involving VK Šaľa and VK Sĺňava Piešťany. At the Piešťanské štvorky event, children also had the opportunity to try rowing in a coxed quad. VK Šaľa welcomes support for its work, including donations of 2% of tax.
