About Victorian Lung Cancer Registry
The Victorian Lung Cancer Registry (VLCR) is a clinical quality registry dedicated to monitoring the care provided to Australians diagnosed with lung cancer. Established in 2012 and managed by Monash University's Cancer Research Program, the VLCR aims to identify and address variations in treatment and outcomes for individuals with lung cancer. Data collection includes information on diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes, gathered both electronically from hospitals and manually by trained data collectors.
Reports generated by the VLCR help participating hospitals benchmark their care quality, highlighting areas of excellence and opportunities for improvement. Governed by a diverse Steering Committee, the VLCR team includes medical oncologists, specialists, registry experts, and consumer advocates. Funding for the registry is sourced from government, public, and private entities, with support from partners like the Australian Federal Government and pharmaceutical companies.
