Vleermuiswerkgroep Nederland (VLEN) is a Dutch organisation dedicated to protecting bats and sharing knowledge about them. Its website serves both people discovering bats and those already involved in bat conservation, research, or public education. VLEN provides information on bat ecology, species, feeding and hunting, roosts, echolocation, protection, and issues such as diseases and habitat impacts.
Visitors can report sightings, find guidance when encountering a bat in need, and locate support by province. The organisation also offers resources for conservation planning, building projects, tree removal, and the Dutch bat protocol, alongside reports, publications, videos, audio recordings, and conference presentations. VLEN encourages participation through regional working groups, volunteer activities, bat walks, and events such as the Night of the Bat and its annual VLEN Day.
It provides information about bat detectors and bat boxes, and invites individuals and organisations to support its work through donations or sponsorship. Educational materials and activities are available for children, while a free newsletter and links to related nature organisations help readers stay informed
