Vlny Štvanice

Vlny Štvanice is a nonprofit organization founded by boaters and surfers that has transformed a former military training course on Prague’s Štvanice island into a public park for watersports. Its central attraction is a stationary river-surfing wave, where beginners and experienced riders can surf with instruction, equipment rental, and bookable sessions. The site also operates a whitewater course for kayaking and rafting, with guided rafting, kayaks, paddleboards, and related gear available to visitors.

Beyond the water, its SurfHouse offers changing rooms, board storage, a gym, a shaping workshop, and coworking space, while the wider community hosts activities such as yoga, fitness, and beach sports. Vlny Štvanice sells memberships, session credits, gift vouchers, and branded merchandise, and runs events and surf trips. It also connects river-surfing communities through its work with the International River Surfing Association and the River Surf Summit in Prague.

The organization emphasizes accessible urban recreation and environmental care; its surf wave is powered by the river’s natural gravitational flow. Surfing operations may be suspended during severe drought
