About Voices Awake
Voices Awake is an empowering brand that focuses on transforming the lives of girls in Malawi. Their mission is to equip these girls with the skills and tools they need to create lasting, positive change in their lives and communities. Through holistic and trauma-informed programs, Voices Awake aims to empower these girls to discover who they are, define their future, and change the world.
The brand was founded in 2013 by Vanessa Mwangala, who personally experienced the effects of Malawian traditions on girls and women. Vanessa wanted to combat the challenges faced by Malawian girls, such as early marriages and HIV/AIDS, and provide them with a different vision for their futures. In addition to mentoring, Voices Awake also provides holistic care, safety, and support by sheltering abused and abandoned girls.
With the belief that every girl has the power within herself to create the change she desires, Voices Awake strives to make a significant impact in the lives of these resilient and strong girls
