Volièrevereniging

Volièrevereniging Drachten–Ureterp is a bird-keeping association based in Drachten, formed in 2024 through the merger of De Drachtster Vogelvrienden of Drachten and De Wâldsang of Ureterp. With around 165 senior, youth and supporting members, the association promotes the keeping and breeding of aviary birds and shares knowledge among enthusiasts.

Members and visitors can take part in bird discussions, lectures, meetings and other gatherings, where experienced bird specialists explain topics such as avian genetics in an accessible way. The association also encourages members to exchange their own observations and practical experience. Its website supports this community with news, newsletters, club history, articles about the bird-keeping hobby, and photos and videos from past events. It also provides information about exhibitions, the club building, sponsors and relevant links, including resources from the Dutch bird association NBvV. Visitors can follow the group on Facebook or contact the association through its website to learn more about membership and activities. The club’s focus is on education, shared experience and promoting responsible interest in aviary birds.
