Stichting Volksfeest Aalten is a community organization that brings residents and visitors together for Aalten’s annual Volksfeest, a four-day celebration of local tradition and conviviality. Held each year around the weekend of the third Sunday in September, the festival is designed for people of all ages and offers a varied programme of shared activities and entertainment.
Highlights include a parade, king’s shooting, children’s games, a fairground and music. The foundation’s committees help organize key parts of the event, including children’s activities, the parade and shooting, while its general board oversees the wider organization. The Volksfeestkrant provides festival-related information, and the website also offers programme details, photos and livestream content.
The foundation shares news and practical updates through its website and social media, and has launched a WhatsApp channel to communicate timely changes and announcements during the festival. Supported by local businesses, organizations and community members, Stichting Volksfeest Aalten works to make the celebration possible each year and strengthen the sense of connection across the town.
