Deutsch Kurzhaar von der Tannenburg is a breeding kennel in Merzen, Germany, run by breeder Martin Meyer Lührmann. Its focus is the German Shorthaired Pointer, a versatile hunting dog intended to combine strong working ability with a balanced temperament and close companionship with the family. The kennel aims to preserve and encourage the breed’s energy, intelligence, reliability and natural aptitude for hunting.
Dogs bred at von der Tannenburg are valued for stamina, scenting ability and dependable work in the field, in water and during tracking. The breeding programme also emphasizes pointing ability and a willingness to work with their handler. The dogs are described as athletic and harmonious in build, with a robust, easy-care short coat and breed-typical colors ranging from brown to roan.
Alongside their hunting instincts, these dogs are bred to be affectionate, sociable and well suited to family life. The website features current and former dogs, kennel news and litters, including the I-, G- and H-würfe. Prospective owners can contact the breeder directly for information.
